Home sales way down in Greater Victoria

www.ctvvancouverisland.ca http VICTORIA – The new real estate numbers are out for Vancouver Island, and they aren’t good. Last month sales dropped more than 25 percent in Greater Victoria over January of 2012. Single Family home sales dropped from 169 in January of 2012 to 121 last month, a difference in more than million in sales. Condominium sales are down 28 percent. 112 sold in January of 2012, and 81 last month. It was the same story in most markets on the island, except for Port Alberni, where sales prices are up 26 percent, but realtors say a couple of high priced sales pushed up that average. Realtors agree, this is a buyer’s market and if you’re looking to buy, there are bargains out there. Follow Louise Hartland on Twitter: www.twitter.com
